Tip #9 Acceptance

In the midst of times when things feel as though they are out of our control, we need to remember we do have control over one thing, and that is our thoughts.

Our thoughts determine our feelings and our reactions and then, our results.

“Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” - Victor Frankl

So, in that space, perhaps we can accept what is happening. That doesn’t mean we do not try to move forward or do things differently, but in the moment of acceptance, there is some freedom.

Acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing or situation - some fact of my life - unacceptable to me. I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment.”

Acceptance can reduce stress by releasing resistance to what is. Perhaps you can accept something or someone just a little bit more.

Try out this mantra for today: I accept everything as it is right now.
