Have you ever smelled something that brought back memories and feelings with it?
This is because smells can stimulate areas of your brain that play a role in emotions!
They are best used by applying to the skin and can be diluted by mixing them with a carrier oil, such as olive oil, or almond oil. Another way to use them is to disperse them into the air via a diffuser or humidifier. This can help purify the air and prevent the spread of airborne germs.
Try to buy ‘pure’ essential oils as there are knock off versions and perfume oils that don’t contain the same benefits as pure oils.
Here are a few oils and their benefits:
Lavender – (my favorite) for relaxation and sleep.
Lemon – energizing and detoxifying.
Eucalyptus – for cold symptoms and congested sinuses.
Cinnamon – strong anti-bacterial oil with some anti-fungal properties too.
Thyme – anti-viral properties.
